Lincolnshire County Invitational Teams 2008

Bicester Gymnastics Club sent two teams to Spalding for the Lincolnshire Invitational Team 2008 Competition on Sunday 9 November. Amy Deller, Brodie Logan, Annabelle Clifton and Jess Pitts made up the Level 4 team. They performed well achieving a few personal bests and performing a few skills for the first time in competition.

Annabelle had a great day having just the day before managed to stick her back flick on beam for the first time was determined to do it on the day. Taking control of her nerves she got on the beam and gave it her all and landed her flick but lost balance and fell. But the fact that she managed to land it was good enough for her, her coaches and her parents who were watching from the gallery. She was on a high because she had just managed to do her first upstart on the A-Bars in the previous rotation.

Brodie was not so successful on the balance beam as she was finding it hard to find that balance and was off several times which meant her score would not count towards the team score. It was not all bad for Brodie, after at first finding the sprung floor not as bouncy as the club's new tumble track she listened to Glenn, her coach, to put more power into the floor. The result was she performed a lovely high tuck back somersault for the first time in a competition.

Jess performed consistently across the board giving her the third highest total score of 44.35pts.and helping secure the Silver medal for Level 4 Teams.

The Level 3 team consisting of Chloe Banks, Gemma Sole, Sam Brock, Harriet Bruce and Daisy Ryan-Pont also performed well, finishing in the Bronze medal position. Gemma, who has been having mental blocks when it came to doing flicks on the beam, was determined not to let the team down and fought off the demons and managed to land her flick but, as Annabelle did, lost her balance and fell. Daisy was one of the few who managed to stick her whole beam routine giving her the second highest beam score at Level 3. Harriet performed a level floor routine with twisting straight back somersault giving her the second highest Level 3 floor and the 6th highest overall score.
